Fawzia Koofi Condemns “Brutal Massacre” in Herat: “This Cowardly Crime Exposes Afghanistan’s Deep Instability”

With profound sorrow and a heart filled with pain and righteous anger, I have learned that several innocent Afghan compatriots were martyred and many others gravely wounded in a barbaric and deadly shooting that targeted a peaceful public gathering in the city of Herat.

I offer my deepest and most heartfelt condolences to the grieving families of the martyrs, their relatives, friends, and the brave, resilient people of Herat. In this dark hour of national tragedy, I stand fully with you and share in your immense pain.

I pray to Almighty God to bestow His infinite mercy upon the martyrs, grant swift and complete recovery to the injured, and give patience and strength to the bereaved families.

This cowardly and vicious attack on defenseless civilians is yet another painful reminder of the dangerous instability and pervasive insecurity tearing Afghanistan apart. The perpetrators of this heinous crime must be identified and brought to justice without delay.
